Starting tomorrow, the El Castillo building confirms its rebirth as El Castillo de las Artes, a center for art, culture and memory that serves cultural and inclusion needs for the population of the Santa Fe neighborhood, in the Los Mártires area.
Considering the history of this space as a ‘nightclub’, it is a more than interesting step for the city to redefine it and give rise to the first center of art, culture and memory in Bogotá with artistic activities 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Achieving this required the articulation of various public, private and community entities.
Its purpose, more than necessary, is to promote, from the creation, appropriation, circulation and artistic training, the empowerment of cultural rights and the care of life, as well as self-recognition, recognition, respect and affection for the difference.
Located at Calle 23 No.14 -19, El Castillo de las Artes plans to open, in mid-2021, a school of arts and crafts for life, a museum of the night, a library, processes of social cartography, laboratories for collective creation, dialogues of knowledge, workshops for the reactivation of the arts and a permanent circulation stage for the arts (cinema forum, exhibitions, performances, interventions, concerts, theater and dance).
