Government Appoints Belén Gualda de Navantia As New President Of SEPI

The Council of Ministers has appointed Belén Gualda González , current president of Navantia , the new president of the State Society for Industrial Participations (SEPI), a position that had been vacant since October 2019.

This was announced at the press conference after the Council the Minister of Finance and Government spokesperson, María Jesús Montero , who has highlighted Gualda’s extensive experience in the public business sector, much of it linked to the Junta de Andalucía.

Belén Gualda González, who until now presided over the public shipyards of Navantia -a company integrated in SEPI-, replaces Vicente Fernández Guerrero in the position, from which he was dismissed in the fall of 2019 after his indictment in the ‘Aznalcóllar case’.

During the period that this position has been vacant, the vice president of SEPI, Bartolomé Lora, has exercised this work on an interim basis, as established in the fourth section of the Order of July 13, 1995 of the Ministry of Industry of organization and functions of the SEPI.

Belén Gualda (Granada, 1974) is a Roads, Canals and Ports engineer , with a final grade of outstanding in her undergraduate studies, and accumulates extensive experience in management positions within the public business sector, in which she has developed a large part of her career. career.

It highlights the recent task carried out at the head of the Andalusian Public Works Agency in important infrastructure projects. In addition to being the youngest professional at the helm of Navantia throughout its history, she adds to this managerial experience the participation between 2008 and 2019 in various boards of directors and governing boards of different mercantile companies and public business agencies with participation as well. of private equity.

During the performance of these responsibilities, he has promoted international cooperation projects in the field of Sustainable Development Plans and has turned his experience in the management, coordination and execution of programs financed with European funds, especially in the area of ​​the environment. water and multimodal transport.

Committed to initiatives to combat climate change, it has been one of the main promoters of social consensus on this matter, in collaboration with the business sector. He was also a member of the regional delegation that participated in the Paris Climate Conference as a specialist in the regulation of the Climate Change law.
